A year ago, I was hiking near Page, Arizona after a rainstorm, the air still heavy, the ground glowing red. The sound of distant thunder was fading, and the desert light had that quiet, sacred quality that only appears after a storm.

After the rain cleared, the red rocks glowed beneath a double rainbow, a reminder that sometimes the pause is part of the process. What began as a canceled Sedona show turned into a moment of reflection on patience, creativity, and finding balance in life’s storms.

This post  isn’t just about my work, it’s about all of us. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how quick people are to judge, what’s good, what’s bad, what’s right or wrong. Everyone wants to be a critic. But maybe what we actually need more of is support.

After returning from Bhutan, I found myself reflecting not only on the culture, light and landscapes I encountered but also on the process that transforms a moment captured through the lens into a final piece of fine art. 

Some journeys leave a mark far deeper than photographs can show. My recent trip to Bhutan was one of those rare experiences a place where tradition, spirit and light seemed to converge at every turn. What began as a photography adventure became a powerful reminder of why I fell in love with this art form in the first place.

The best photographs aren’t always the ones we set out to take they’re the ones we’re present enough to receive. In a world obsessed with perfection, I’ve found more meaning in the in between moments, the quiet textures, the imperfect light, the way a place feels when I stop trying to control the shot. For me, photography isn’t about chasing, it’s about listening.

Some places live in your imagination long before you ever step foot in them. For me, the Blue Hole at the base of Mt. Waiʻaleʻale was one of those places a sacred, remote wonder I had dreamed of reaching for over a decade. With jungle paths, river crossings and sheer determination, Sue and I took on one of Kauai’s most challenging hikes and stood in the heart of the island’s raw, untouched beauty.

The spaces we live and work in affect more than we realize they shape our mindset, emotions and energy. What we choose to hang on our walls isn’t just décor, it’s storytelling, it’s mood and it’s personal. Whether you're craving calm, creativity, or connection, the right piece of art can shift everything.
