The Moment It Finally Became Real
Nov 04, 2025
A year ago, I was hiking near Page, Arizona after a rainstorm, the air still heavy, the ground glowing red. The sound of distant thunder was fading, and the desert light had that quiet, sacred quality that only appears after a storm.
Somewhere along that trail, it hit me. After decades of photographing the Southwest, chasing light, shadow, stillness, and flow it was time to bring all those moments together in one place. Not just as images, but as a journey.
That day planted the seed for what would eventually become my first fine art photography book, Alive in the Desert: A Journey Through the Southwest & Soul.
Fast forward to now my studio is filled with open boxes, stacks of books, 5×7 prints waiting to be tucked inside, and my signature drying on the title pages. It’s a surreal feeling. What started as an idea under storm clouds is now real, tangible and being shipped out into the world.
Each copy of Alive in the Desert includes a signed 5×7 fine art print of the cover image and ships directly from my hands, not a warehouse. Every book carries the intention, gratitude, and care that went into creating it.
These aren’t just pages of landscapes. They’re pieces of time, moments of stillness, patience and wonder from trails that have shaped my life as both an artist and a person.
If you’ve been part of this journey, thank you.
If you’re just discovering it now....welcome.
Alive in the Desert is more than a book. It’s a reflection of how art, nature, and soul can intersect when we slow down long enough to see the light between storms.
